A Delta Air Lines aircraft en route to Columbia had to turn back to Atlanta on Monday, February 24. Smoke suddenly filled the cabin, causing significant commotion on board. According to the New York Post, this is the second similar incident in recent days.

Passengers in fear

Flight number DL876, with 99 people on board, including five crew members, took off at 8:30 a.m. When the cabin started getting misty, the pilot quickly decided to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Upon landing, passengers were evacuated using emergency slides.

"The flight crew followed procedures to return to Atlanta when a haze inside the aircraft was observed after departure," said a Delta spokesperson in an interview with CNN. "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience," they added. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.

Videos on social media show significant smoke in the cabin and passengers covering their mouths and noses in fear.

Similar incidents

This is the third incident involving a Delta plane recently. On Saturday, a plane heading to Australia had to return to Los Angeles due to smoke on board. A week earlier, a more shocking incident occurred when a Delta plane overturned and caught fire after landing in Toronto. Thankfully, passengers and crew survived.

All these incidents raise concerns among passengers and pose questions about the safety of Delta Air Lines flights.
