Aviation experts assure safety amid rise in incidents

The number of aviation disasters has increased in recent months. Expert Heinrich Großbongardt explains that this is a "random statistical concentration," meaning that despite the accumulation of incidents, flying remains safe.

The recent rise in aviation disasters has concerned passengers and experts. Heinrich Großbongardt, an aviation specialist, describes the current situation as a "random statistical concentration," indicating that even with more incidents, flying remains safe.

Großbongardt emphasizes that although the number of incidents is noticeable, it is not due to reduced safety standards.

In the past, there have been equally long periods without disasters. Currently, there is one fatal accident for every 8 million flights, the expert reminds us.

Changes in American aviation authorities, introduced by Donald Trump, may affect safety. Layoffs in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and structural changes may weaken air traffic control in the USA.

Statistics and flight safety

According to Großbongardt, modern aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 have even better safety indicators, with one accident every 20 million flights. The expert notes that the increased number of flights worldwide may lead to more incidents.

Despite this, Großbongardt is convinced that flying is more reliable today than ever before. However, it's important to remember that accidents were more frequent in the past, both in absolute numbers and in relation to the number of flights.

Recall last month's collision between an American Airlines plane and a military helicopter, which resulted in the death of 67 people. Additionally, a medical plane crashed in Philadelphia, and at Seattle-Tacoma, a Japan Airlines plane clipped the tail of a Delta aircraft.

Recently, dramatic events unfolded on February 17th at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada during difficult weather conditions. A Delta Airlines plane overturned during landing.

There were 80 people on board, including four crew members. Fortunately, there are no reports of fatalities, although 18 people were injured.
