The authorities in the Sumy region of Ukraine have urged residents of Bilopilla and Vorozhba to evacuate immediately. Heavy shelling by Russian forces poses a grave threat to the people in these cities.

The General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine reported that Russian forces are using prohibited methods of warfare, targeting civilians and critical infrastructure. As a result, one person was killed in Bilopilla, and two people lost their lives in Vorozhba.

Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure

The Mayor of Bilopilla, Yuriy Zarko, emphasized that the situation is dire. Dozens of bombs have fallen on the city. He noted that at times, three bombs exploded simultaneously within ten minutes, - he said in an interview with the Polish Press Agency. Despite the danger, Zarko remains in the city, expressing gratitude to Poland for its support.

Bilopilla has a rich history and is associated with Kazimir Malevich, a Ukrainian avant-garde artist of Polish descent. The city features a mural commemorating the artist, along with a copy of his work "White Cross on Grey Background."

The situation in Bilopilla and Vorozhba remains tense. Local authorities are appealing for international assistance and support to ensure the safety of residents and facilitate a return to normal life.
