The Ukrainian president expressed gratitude for the international support for his country in a social media post.

Earlier, in a post on TruthSocial, Donald Trump harshly criticized Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a "dictator without elections" and urging for quick action, warning, "or else he won't have a country." The former U.S. president also accused the Ukrainian leader of dragging the U.S. into a "war that cannot be won."

Regarding these comments, Trump's national security advisor, Mike Waltz, was asked about them on Fox News. Waltz stated, "President Trump made himself very clear. He intends to bring this war to an end, but all parties need to be involved in this."

Vice President J.D. Vance, on the other hand, criticized Zelensky for his public remarks about Donald Trump, describing them as a "terrible way" to manage relations with the U.S. administration.

"Denying Zelensky's democratic legitimacy is dangerous"

However, voices were defending the Ukrainian president. "Ukraine has been defending itself against a ruthless Russian war of aggression for almost three years now. Day after day," wrote German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on his profile on platform X. He emphasized that Volodymyr Zelensky was legitimately elected as Ukraine's leader and pointed out that the inability to hold regular elections during wartime aligns with the Ukrainian constitution and electoral law, asserting that no one should suggest otherwise.

John Bolton, former national security advisor to Trump, condemned Trump's remarks about Zelensky and Ukraine as among the most disgraceful ever made by a U.S. president. He stressed that supporting Ukraine was never an act of charity but a necessity for maintaining strength abroad and protecting the American way of life.

Max Seddon, a Moscow correspondent for the Financial Times, remarked that Putin likely never expected Trump to align with him so swiftly and decisively on Ukraine, as occurred last week.
