Trump blames Biden for Ukraine war, vows quick resolution
Donald Trump claimed that Russia's war with Ukraine is "Joe Biden's war," not his. He reiterated that this conflict would not have occurred during his presidency. "President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin," stated the former U.S. president.
Donald Trump, who promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, once again criticized former U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This time, Trump stated that "the war between Russia and Ukraine is Biden's war, not mine."
"The War between Russia and Ukraine is Biden’s war, not mine. I just got here, and for four years during my term, had no problem in preventing it from happening. President Putin, and everyone else, respected your President! I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS WAR, BUT AM WORKING DILIGENTLY TO GET THE DEATH AND DESTRUCTION TO STOP. If the 2020 Presidential Election was not RIGGED, and it was, in so many ways, that horrible War would never have happened. President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin. There were so many ways of preventing it from ever starting. But that is the past. Now we have to get it to STOP, AND FAST. SO SAD!" Trump wrote on Truth Social (original spelling).
It's important to note that Trump's claims of alleged voter fraud in the U.S. presidential elections were never substantiated.
According to an analysis by the American publication "Newsweek," cases of voter fraud are extremely rare and did not affect the election outcome. Of the 62 lawsuits filed by Donald Trump's team, only one was successful, which was later overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Additionally, a report by the Brookings Institution indicates that over 25 years, covering 36 elections, only 1,561 cases of voter fraud were noted, accounting for a minuscule percentage in the context of millions of votes cast.
On February 12, 2025, Donald Trump had his first phone call with Vladimir Putin since Russia invaded Ukraine. The call lasted about 90 minutes and covered, among other topics, the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, and energy issues. Both sides expressed a willingness to begin immediate peace negotiations regarding Ukraine.
In March 2025, Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, held several meetings with President Putin to expedite peace talks. Witkoff described Putin as "a great guy" and "super smart," which drew criticism from Ukraine and some American politicians.
In the same month, Trump had a phone conversation with both Putin and Zelensky.
In April 2025, Trump expressed frustration over the lack of progress in peace negotiations and called on Russia to speed up the talks. He suggested the possibility of imposing additional tariffs on Russian oil if Moscow doesn't take steps toward ending the conflict.
