Trump referred to the missile attack on Sumy aboard Air Force One while returning from Florida to Washington.

- I think it was terrible. And I was told they made a mistake. But I think it's a horrible thing. I think the whole war is a horrible thing. I think for that war to have started is an abuse of power. That war is a shame - said Trump, emphasizing that if he were president, "this country would have never allowed that war to have started."

When asked to clarify the mention of the Russians' mistake, the president simply replied that the Russians "made a mistake."

- They made a mistake. I believe it was. Look, you're gonna ask them. This is Biden's war. This is not my war (...). I’m just trying to get it stopped so that we can save a lot of lives - he pointed out. - (M)illions of people would be alive except for the fact that the election were rigged because that war would have never started and (Russian President Vladimir) Putin never would have started that war - he added.

Trump suggested that Putin decided to invade Ukraine because he didn't respect Biden.

In the context of the meeting of the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, with Vladimir Putin, Trump mentioned that the talks were about Russia and Ukraine, but details were not disclosed. Earlier, Gen. Keith Kellogg, envoy for Ukraine, condemned the attack on Sumy, describing it as crossing all boundaries of decency.
