Planning the kitchen's organization begins at the design stage. At that point, you decide how many cabinets you'll need and how much space you'll require for food storage. However, this doesn't mean you can't improve a kitchen you've been using for years. Here are some proven tips.

Tricks for keeping order in the kitchen

Storing spices in the kitchen often causes problems. When misplaced, they're hard to find and sometimes spill. It's better to transfer them to jars or special containers, which can then be arranged in cabinets or drawers. Always label them clearly, as spices often look similar and can be easily confused.

  • Store utensils in a drawer just below the countertop so they're always within reach. Special containers with dividers are useful for organization. Kitchen drawer organizers make it easier to sort utensils and other kitchen accessories. Place the most frequently used items at the front of the drawer, while those not used daily should go at the back. Sharp kitchen knives are safer in a stand or on a magnetic strip, as they're easier to access compared to being stored in drawers.
  • Corner cabinets are usually the most spacious, making them perfect for storing pots and other larger kitchen accessories. The most convenient ones feature pull-out baskets, which simplify maintaining order. If the cabinet is far from the stove, consider using it for food storage, while keeping pots as close as possible.
  • Deep drawers and lower cabinets are also great for storing pots, larger dishes, and rarely used kitchen appliances. It's simpler to retrieve these items from lower drawers or cabinets compared to reaching up to higher cabinets.
  • Upper cabinets are ideal for storing coffee, tea, and glassware like mugs or wine glasses. This setup is designed for items you frequently use and need to keep accessible.
