Zucchini is the true queen of summer. You've probably eaten it many times and in many different dishes. Soups, pancakes, and salads are just the beginning of a long list. There are so many ways to use it that everyone will find something they like.

All the benefits

It's worth eating zucchini because it's cheap, delicious, and healthy. It has plenty of benefits. One important aspect for many people is its low-calorie count, making it ideal for those watching their weight. Additionally, zucchini is packed with vitamins and minerals that positively impact health. It's a real treasure trove of nutrients. It contains, among other things, potassium, which is crucial for the proper functioning of muscles and the nervous system. It is also a valuable source of B vitamins, especially niacin (B3) and B6, which help improve metabolism and the functioning of the nervous system. Additionally, antioxidants such as vitamin C and lutein strengthen the immune system and protect eyesight.

Peppers give it power

Think zucchini is bland and tasteless? If you can't bring yourself to like zucchini because of this, try this recipe. You'll see that zucchini can be very spicy. Just season it the Asian way with chili flakes and garlic. For this recipe, you'll also need sriracha sauce, which is made from chili peppers. It's considered one of the spiciest sauces in the world. It's an excellent source of capsaicin – an active spicy ingredient that scientists say causes euphoric effects in our brains and also helps with digestion.

Best with rice

The recipe for Asian-style zucchini is remarkably simple. However, you'll need several ingredients typical of this cuisine. If you are a fan, you probably have them on hand. This prepared zucchini can be served with rice for a light dinner or as a warm side dish to grilled meat, such as chicken or fish.

Asian-style zucchini

Ingredients:

                    
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 zucchinis
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 tablespoon spicy sriracha sauce
  • half a teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • finely chopped chives for serving

Preparation:

          
  1. Wash and cut the zucchinis into sticks, then place them in a bowl.
  2. Add soy sauce, sweet and sour sauce, sriracha sauce, chili flakes, and toasted sesame seeds. Mix to combine the ingredients.
  3. Heat 2-3 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pan, then add the zucchini drained of the sauce. Sauté them with finely chopped garlic.
  4. Add the remaining sauce and heat briefly. The zucchinis should remain crispy and firm. Sprinkle with chopped chives before serving.
