Morning fuel: Quick yogurt and fruit smoothie fix

I opt for this smoothie when I don't have time in the morning to prepare a meal. I only need plain yogurt and fruits. It turns out delicious, filling, and healthy. It can also efficiently serve as a dessert substitute.

The smoothie is nutritious and filling because it's made with plain yogurt. Fruits contribute plenty of nutritional value as well. Of course, it's not an everyday breakfast idea, but when you're short on time to prepare a meal, it's worth using this trick. You can also pour the smoothie into a bottle or a sports bottle to take it.

Yogurt works in the morning

Dietitians often recommend plain yogurt, especially for breakfast. Traditionally, Greeks, known for maintaining good health for a long time, start their morning meal with it. This product's most essential and unique aspect is the live bacterial cultures supporting gut flora. This translates to better digestion and immunity.

Regular yogurt consumption can also aid in weight management, thanks to its high protein content, which helps you feel full longer. That's why you can have such a smoothie in the morning; hunger won't bother you quickly. Yogurt is also a good source of vitamins and calcium.

Fruits perfect for a smoothie

The second essential ingredient of this smoothie is fruit, which can even be eaten on an empty stomach. Bananas are easily digestible and rich in potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins, making them an excellent energy source. They also contain fiber, which aids digestion. It's a good ingredient in terms of taste as well. Yogurt is quite sour, while a banana is sweet, creating a good combination. You can enhance it further with lime juice, which adds a distinct citrus note. At this time of year, it’s also worth considering strawberries—their flavor pairs well with both banana and yogurt.

Quick breakfast smoothie

Ingredients:        

  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/4 lime (optional)
  • A handful of strawberries (optional)
  • Half a cup of water (optional)

Preparation method:  

  1. Pour the yogurt into a tall container and add a banana cut into pieces. Add lime juice from a quarter of a lime and/or a handful of strawberries without stems.
  2. Blend everything until a smooth consistency forms. If necessary, thin it with water and blend briefly again.
