The Chancellor welcomed the Ukrainian leader's willingness to begin peace negotiations with Russia at the earliest possible date, the German government spokesperson reported.
Shared vision of peace
During the conversation, they discussed military and humanitarian issues, as well as ways to achieve a just peace in Ukraine.
The communiqué emphasized that both politicians acknowledged the crucial role of the American president's leadership, particularly in efforts to secure a swift ceasefire and establish lasting peace in Ukraine.

Solidarity and support
On platform X, President Zelensky emphasized the importance of European unity in Ukraine. "Unity with all our partners is important for us to end the war as quickly as possible and provide a reliable and durable peace.
