Russia's Lavrov disparages Zelensky, lauds Trump amidst conflict
Russia continues its brutal attacks on Ukraine. When questioned about potential negotiations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made an insulting remark about Volodymyr Zelensky, while simultaneously praising Donald Trump.
Many reports from Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
Sergey Lavrov was asked whether he believes Volodymyr Zelensky would come to the negotiation table following the suspension of military aid by the USA.
- I cannot read thoughts of that human. On the other hand, you can hardly call him human - Lavrov responded insultingly.
Lavrov praises Trump
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Minister is full of praise for Donald Trump. In the wake of the uproar in the White House, he commented that U.S. President Donald Trump is a "pragmatist," and described his associates, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as "absolutely reasonable people."
Speaking to the media of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lavrov said that Trump's slogan, "common sense," implies a "transition to a different way of conducting affairs."
He also remarked that discussions about the presence of European forces in Ukraine are "audacious" and criticized the fact that "no one asks Russia" for its opinion on the matter. Lavrov praised Trump for, in his words, "behaving properly."
Attacks on Ukraine
Overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, while Donald Trump was speaking in the US, Russian troops carried out an attack on Ukraine, using 181 drones and four missiles. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 115 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down. Additionally, another energy facility in the Odesa region was attacked, as reported by the private energy company DTEK.
