France steps up: Shares military intel with Ukraine amidst U.S. halt
France has decided to share military intelligence data with Ukraine, confirmed Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu. This assurance came in response to reports that the United States has stopped sharing intelligence data with Kyiv and has prohibited sharing it with other countries.
French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu confirmed that France actively supports Ukraine by sharing military intelligence data. This statement from the head of the French Ministry of Defense came in response to reports about the United States' decision.
Partial end to information sharing from the USA
Citing anonymous sources, the "Financial Times" reported on Wednesday that the United States has ceased sharing intelligence data with Ukraine. Washington also reportedly prohibited partner countries, including the United Kingdom, from sharing American intelligence information with Kyiv. According to the reports, the "Rel UKR" clause (Releasable to Ukraine, indicating the possibility of sharing) has disappeared from documents for the first time since the outbreak of the war.
The head of the National Security Bureau, Gen. Dariusz Łukowski, confirmed that the United States has halted the sharing of intelligence data about Russian strikes in Ukraine. However, they still provide information about the movements of Russian troops. "Nothing indicates that the exchange of information about the situation around the battlefield has been stopped," said Łukowski.
Intelligence support is crucial for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. Access to intelligence data can significantly impact the country's defense capabilities and military strategy.
