Yogurt cake recipe "by the cups"

With the proportions given below, you can prepare a cake for a pan with a diameter of 10 inches. Choose a yogurt container of 5 or 7 ounces.

Ingredients for one pan (10 inches in diameter):

  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of oil

Instructions:

  1. Pour the yogurt into a bowl, then wash and dry the cup.
  2. Using the same cup, measure the specified amounts of dry ingredients (sugar and flour) and add them to the bowl. Add the baking powder and eggs as well. Lastly, add a cup of oil.
  3. Mix the ingredients with a mixer.
  4. Lightly grease the cake pan and pour the batter into it. Smooth the surface and bake at 350°F for about 1 hour.
  5. Use a wooden skewer to check if the cake is baked inside. Remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan. When slightly cooled, transfer it to a cake stand.

How to enhance yogurt cake?

The yogurt cake is an excellent base for culinary experiments. To the basic recipe, you can add fresh fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, or peaches. Before adding to the batter, cut larger fruits into smaller pieces for even distribution in the cake. This way, each piece will have a distinctive flavor.

Nuts and spices for yogurt cake

You can also choose other additions — walnuts, almonds, or raisins will give the bake an interesting texture and delightful taste. It's worth roasting them slightly before adding them to the batter to enhance their aroma.

As for spices, you might want to try cinnamon or nutmeg. Also, try a version with cocoa, coconut flakes, or chocolate chips. Each of these ingredients will give the cake an entirely new character.
