Zero-waste breakfast: Egg‑stuffed rolls for a tasty morning fix
Morning times are getting colder, and I dreamed of a warm breakfast. I returned to my tried-and-true recipe for quick casseroles, for which I used yesterday's rolls. I add an egg and chives to them. With this simple and delicious dish, even a cloudy day starts better.

Preparing this treat takes just a few minutes; you can manage it even if you don't have much time in the morning. While the casseroles are in the oven, you can still slice a tomato or cucumber. Vegetables go great with this casserole.
Eggs like company
Do you have some rolls left over from the previous day? It's a good opportunity to try this recipe. Regular wheat rolls will work, but you can also use other bread. Hollow out the rolls to make room for an egg. Do this carefully to avoid puncturing the rolls, as the egg could leak out. Spread some butter inside, and you can put some grated cheese inside. Do you have a few slices of cold cuts in the refrigerator? Thinly slice them and put them in the rolls as well. Eggs taste great with salmon, tomato, or broccoli so that you can change the additions.
Just the way you like it
Crack the eggs into the prepared rolls. Place them in a preheated oven and bake until the eggs have the consistency you like best. The yolk can remain slightly runny or be well-set. It's worth sprinkling the finished casseroles with some greens. Chives or dill work best.
A good start to the day
This zero-waste-style breakfast is highly nutritious. It's thanks to eggs, which dietitians often recommend specifically for the first part of the day. When you choose eggs for a morning meal, you're providing yourself with a substantial portion of protein, giving you energy and satisfying your hunger for a long time. As a result, the tendency to snack will significantly decrease. Moreover, eggs are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, giving you the strength to face the day's challenges.
