During a teleconference with the leaders of the G7 countries, President Zelensky highlighted that Ukraine has not yet received the air defense systems promised at the NATO summit in Washington in 2024. These systems were meant to compensate for the lack of an invitation to the Alliance.

During the NATO summit, Ukraine was promised air defense systems to protect its citizens from Russian missiles and bombs as compensation for not receiving an invitation to join the alliance. However, not all of these launchers have been delivered yet, highlighting an unfulfilled commitment.

Ukraine and NATO: Unfulfilled promises

Zelensky noted that if NATO's protective measures shielded Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin might not have dared to commit acts of aggression.

After three years of full-scale war, President Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine's strength is evident and would contribute immediately to the Alliance, rather than requiring decades to do so.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine significantly contributes to regional security, which the Alliance should appreciate. His statements reflect frustration over the delays in fulfilling promises to bolster the country's defense against Russian aggression.

The lack of delivery of the promised air defense systems makes Ukraine's situation difficult, especially given the ongoing conflict with Russia. Zelensky appeals for support and fulfilling earlier commitments, which would enhance his country's security.

In the face of these challenges, Ukraine continues to strengthen its position internationally, hoping for support from allies. President Zelensky persists in providing his country with the necessary means to defend against external threats.
