During a war cabinet meeting in Kharkiv, President Zelensky stated that there was special attention given to the preparation for the meeting with the American delegation, which will take place in Saudi Arabia, March 23, as noted in the statement on the Ukrainian president's official website.

Zelensky on the talks in Riyadh

On Friday, Zelensky revealed that the head of the Ukrainian delegation for talks in Saudi Arabia regarding the details of a ceasefire in Russia's war against Ukraine would be Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. On the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi clarified that the meeting between the Ukrainian and US delegations planned for Monday in Saudi Arabia's capital is not political, but purely technical.

A meeting between the US and Russian delegations is scheduled for Monday.

This week, US President Donald Trump had telephone talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and President Zelensky. Trump and Putin agreed on a 30-day ceasefire concerning energy and infrastructure facilities. However, this agreement is much narrower than the broader American proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in airspace, at sea, and on land, which Ukraine had previously accepted.

Key agreement "ready for signing"

At the end of February in Washington, a meeting took place between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. The presidents were expected to sign a partnership agreement regarding resource extraction in Ukraine, but this did not occur. The meeting in the Oval Office of the White House ended in an argument, leading to the Ukrainian delegation being asked to leave.
