Residents of Olgovka, a village in the Kursk region, have expressed their struggles to Vladimir Putin through a video, describing the challenges they face after being evacuated. The Russian inhabitants had to leave their homes after Ukrainian armed forces attacked and occupied part of the Kursk region in Russia.

People from the Kursk region are urging for the "end this cursed war, which has claimed the lives of many innocent people."

- We’ve been left homeless… We’ve been living in hell over the past three months (...) We want our children to live in peace, not to constantly hear air raid sirens. Hear us, the residents of border regions, and take action. After all, we’re forced to endure all this not by our own will, say the residents displaced from the Kursk region in the recording addressed to Putin.

In their appeal to Putin, the residents complain that they lost their homes as their village was destroyed during the fighting. They emphasize that not everyone can afford to rent an apartment, and the displaced people find it difficult to secure employment.

In the recording, they also mention that many villagers have died. Some were casualties of the attacks, while others perished because the evacuation was not announced in time.

Ukrainians attack in the Kursk region

In August, the Ukrainian side attacked Russian border regions and took control of dozens of villages in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian military claims the attacks target key Russian military infrastructure. 33,000 Russians were evacuated from areas occupied by Kyiv.

The British newspaper "The Telegraph" reported that Vladimir Putin deployed 50,000 Russian and North Korean soldiers, attempting to reclaim Kursk from Ukraine's possession before the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the USA.
