Venice rolls out new tourist registration and fee system
This year, tourists visiting Venice without staying overnight are required to register their visit and pay a fee for 54 specific days. The city authorities have just launched a platform for booking visits and paying these fees.
Venice, one of the most popular tourist destinations not only in Europe but worldwide, is introducing a new system for booking visits and paying fees for tourists. From April 18 to May 4, and on other selected days in May, June, and July, visitors to the city without an overnight stay must register their visit and pay the appropriate fee.
New reservation and fee system
To make the process easier for tourists, Venice has launched a website (cda.ve.it) where visitors can make reservations and pay the fee. The fee is 5 euros (approximately $5.50) if the reservation is made at least four days before arrival. If registration is completed later, the cost doubles to 10 euros (approximately $10.90).
Registration and the fee are mandatory for tourists visiting Venice from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM local time. This system is designed to regulate the influx of tourists and manage their visits, aiming to balance the needs of visitors and city residents.
Days of mandatory registration
This year, the registration requirement applies for 54 days, during which the highest influx of tourists is expected. In addition to the period from April 18 to May 4, these days include May 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, 30-31, June 1-2, 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, 27-29, and July 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, 25-27.
The authorities in Venice emphasize that the goal of introducing this unique system on a global scale is to limit the number of tourists making short visits without overnight stays and to better manage their influx. It is noteworthy that the specified website includes a link where visitors can be exempted from the fee requirement if they have a reservation for an overnight stay in Venice.
