At least four people were killed, and many others were injured due to Sunday's airstrikes by the American army on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. According to local media reports, a building in a residential district in the west of the city was bombed.

On March 15, the United States, under the order of President Donald Trump, launched massive attacks on facilities belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The U.S. Central Military Command stated that the operation aims to protect American interests and ensure freedom of navigation in the region.

In response to the U.S. actions, the Ansar Allah movement, utilizing missiles and drones, conducted a series of attacks on the American aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman positioned in the northern part of the Red Sea. Since the fall of 2023, the Houthis have carried out over 100 attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, claiming they act in solidarity with the Palestinian Hamas in its fight against Israel. The Houthis are one of the factions in the civil war in Yemen that has been ongoing since 2014 and control a large part of the country, including the Red Sea coast.

The civil war in Yemen has led to a humanitarian crisis. According to international organizations, about 22 million inhabitants of the country "urgently need humanitarian aid."
