Unexpected sirens in Moscow spark confusion and speculation

Around 12 p.m. Eastern Time, alarm sirens unexpectedly sounded across Moscow. The reason is unknown. Surprised residents began to share recordings of the alarms online widely. There was no prior warning about a possible system test.

According to the "Ostorożno, Moscow" channel, residents of the city center, among others, reported the activation of the alarm systems. "You can hear the siren; no one warned us or issued any announcements," said one resident.

The sirens blared for at least 10 minutes. No information was recorded about an attack on the capital either.

The "Goworit i pokazujet Moscow" channel suggests the sirens may have been checked as part of previously announced anti-terrorism exercises in schools and universities, which are scheduled to take place on April 29 and 30.

As of now, it is unclear what led to their activation. No explanations or alerts about threats were broadcast on television, adds the SOTAVision channel.
