Putin's ceasefire proposal dismissed as manipulation by Kyiv

The head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation (CPD), Andriy Kovalenko, responded to the proposal by Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding an alleged ceasefire. "Anything that is not a comprehensive ceasefire is Russian manipulation," Kovalenko wrote.

Vladimir Putin announced another temporary halt to military actions. This is supposed to take place from May 8 to 10. The pause is related to the celebrations of Victory Day.

"By decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin, and on humanitarian grounds, in connection with the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, Russia will declare a ceasefire from midnight on May 7–8 until midnight of May 10–11," the Kremlin stated.

On May 9, along with other countries, Russia observes Victory Day, a national holiday commemorating the end of World War II.

Kyiv has already responded to the leader's proposal.

"Why not a full and comprehensive ceasefire? Anything that is not a comprehensive ceasefire is Russian manipulation for informational and military purposes, an attempt to hide the intention to continue the war," wrote Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation (CPD).
