Ukraine ramps up defense tech exports amid ongoing conflict
The development of Ukraine's defense industry has accelerated due to the ongoing conflict. Modern technologies and military equipment tested in real combat conditions are poised to become Ukraine's export products.
According to the industry service, the Ukrainian government has obtained $24 million this year to support its defense sector startups, and some of the recently founded companies have already achieved international recognition.
Ukraine aims to attract foreign capital, viewing investments not only as a source of funding but also as a guarantee of security and a strategy to expand into global markets.
Some Ukrainian companies can already showcase advanced technologies.
The service highlights companies like Piranha-Tech, which has developed state-of-the-art electronic warfare systems, and Skiftech, which is known for creating tactical simulators that employ laser technology.
Ukraine counts on western help
The military aid from the USA to Ukraine, amounting to $8 billion, should sustain Kyiv until February 2025, when the USA will have a new president. Until then, Ukraine cannot afford an offensive, assessed analysts Jacek Tarociński and Andrzej Kohut from the Center for Eastern Studies in a conversation with PAP.
Biden also announced that Ukraine would receive AGM-154 JSOW, which are glide bombs similar to guided bombs. Unlike regular bombs retrofitted with guidance kits, JSOW is designed from scratch to hit targets precisely. It has guidance devices and small folding wings but lacks an engine, approaching the target like a glider.
After talks with Zelensky, Biden also announced that Americans would train 18 Ukrainian pilots on F-16 multi-role fighters.
