Donald Trump, during a conversation with reporters on inauguration day, discovered a letter from Joe Biden.

Trump found the envelope after one of the reporters asked if Biden had left him a letter, which is a tradition in the United States. Initially, he suggested that they read it together. After a moment, he added, "Maybe I’ll read this letter myself. "

The next day, the 47th president of the USA revealed that he had opened the letter and was considering making it public. Now, he has decided to share its content with a broader audience. As he disclosed, in the letter Biden advised him to enjoy his term and emphasized the significance of the presidency.

“It was a very nice, somewhat inspiring letter. Enjoy it, do a good job, how important this work is,” Trump recounted.

A long-standing tradition

The tradition of leaving a letter by the departing president for their successor has been ongoing for 36 years.

It was initiated by Ronald Reagan in 1989 when he left a letter for George H.W. Bush. These letters are a symbol of the continuity of power and respect between presidents.
