  • Talks in Istanbul: On May 15, talks between Russia and Ukraine will take place in Turkey.
  • Zelensky's expectations: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, expects Russia to agree to a complete and permanent ceasefire. He stated that on Thursday he will be waiting for Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
  • Zelensky, as well as the American and Russian delegations, have confirmed their participation in the talks.
  • The U.S. delegation will include, among others, Marco Rubio. Donald Trump has not ruled out his participation. It is not known, however, whether Vladimir Putin will appear in Turkey.

Journalists asked Donald Trump what would happen if Vladimir Putin did not show up on Thursday in Istanbul, where talks between Russia and Ukraine are planned.

"I know he would like me to be there, and that's a possibility. If we could end the war, I'd be thinking about that," answered the American president, indicating that it is possible he will appear in Turkey on Thursday.

"I don't know that he (Putin) would be there if I'm not there. We'll see. Marco [Rubio - ed.] is going and Marco has been very effective," Trump argued.

In Istanbul, on May 15, there will be expert-level technical talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Earlier media reports indicated that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering traveling to Istanbul, where the Russian-Ukrainian talks will be held. "All of us in Ukraine would appreciate it if President Trump could be there with us at this meeting in Turkiye. This is the right idea. We can change a lot," wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on social media.
