Summer's coolest drink: Bumble coffee merges java and juice

Bumble coffee, also known as orange americano, is black coffee with orange juice. Before you dismiss this combination as absurd, sit back, read, and most importantly, try it. Iced black coffee combined with freshly squeezed orange juice creates an amazing effect.

Drinking coffee with orange juice is common worldwide, from Europe to Thailand and Vietnam (hence one of the names for this drink—Good Morning Vietnam). Due to the specific layers created by the coffee and orange juice, you may also come across this drink being referred to as sunrise espresso. Typically, though, it’s just called orange americano or orange espresso.

As the name suggests, we’re dealing with orange juice and strong black coffee, most often a double espresso. The best results come when the coffee is enriched with freshly squeezed juice's sweet and sour taste, wonderfully complementing the coffee's bitterness. Generally, proportions suggest twice as much juice as coffee, but ultimately, this is down to personal taste.

Ingredients:

              
• 2 fl oz of cooled black coffee
• 3.4 fl oz of orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed)
• Ice cubes
• Orange slices

Preparation:

              
1. Pour the orange juice into a tall glass.
2. Fill the glass with ice.
3. Top off the glass with black coffee to create attractive layers.
4. Place orange slices on top. Stir the drink before consuming.
