Stellantis halts production as sales plummet
The Stellantis group's Italian factories are currently experiencing a challenging period. To make matters worse, the group authorities have decided to temporarily halt the production of some models due to weak demand.

The decision is surprising because the pause will also include the plants producing the Panda, a long-time hit for Fiat. Unfortunately, the version after the latest facelift has become significantly more expensive, and customer interest has declined. In August 2024, only 3,873 units were sold in Europe, compared to 6,505 in the same period in 2023.
It is worth mentioning that Stellantis has already suspended production at the Mirafiori plant in Turin, which manufactures the Fiat 500e and two Maserati models. This pause will last at least until November 1.
Next, more plants will halt production: Pomigliano d'Arco, Termoli, and Pratola Serra. According to a statement published by Stellantis on October 16, the breaks in these factories are scheduled from November 11 to 29.
The interruptions are due to insufficient demand for the mentioned models and intensifying competition from Chinese manufacturers.
