Southern California wildfires: Celebrities lose homes, Biden acts
The fight against fires continues in Southern California. At least five people have died in the flames, and over a thousand buildings have been destroyed. Many well-known individuals have suffered significant losses due to the disaster, with some losing their homes.
In California, more than 130,000 residents have already been evacuated. President Joe Biden canceled his trip to Italy to focus on rescue efforts.
In the Los Angeles area, fires have forced many residents to leave their homes. Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes, and Paris Hilton were among those who lost homes. Many evacuations took place in Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, and Altadena.
Authorities report that there are still three uncontrolled fires in the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst areas. The Palisades fire has consumed over 11,500 acres, Eaton over 10,800, and Hurst around 6,400 acres. Mandatory evacuation orders have affected tens of thousands of people.
According to CNN, the Eaton fire has affected about 70,000 people and Palisades about 60,000.
Drama in California: New fires emerge
On Wednesday, local authorities announced the outbreak of a new fire in the Sunset area of Hollywood Hills. Residents were required to leave their homes, and others were warned of the possibility of evacuation.
On Thursday, all schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District will be closed. It is the second-largest school district in the USA. This decision aims to ensure the safety of students and school staff in the face of the fire threat.
