Schwarzenegger urges action over complaints in climate battle
Arnold Schwarzenegger calls on environmentalists to take action despite the Trump administration's policies. "Stop whining and get to work," says the former governor of California, emphasizing the importance of local efforts to protect the environment.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former governor of California, delivered a strong message to environmentalists concerned about Donald Trump's administration's policies. "Stop whining and get to work," he said during the Austrian World Summit in Vienna, which he co-organizes. His words are quoted by ABC News.
Schwarzenegger emphasized that despite the Trump administration's rollback of many environmental regulations, local and regional initiatives can produce significant effects.
He pointed out that as much as 70% of pollution reduction happens at the local or state level. He encouraged actions such as electrifying public transportation and installing solar panels.
"Be the mayor that makes buses electric; be the CEO who ends fossil fuel dependence; be the school that puts (up) solar roofs," said Schwarzenegger during the summit. "You can't just sit around and make excuses because one guy in a very nice White House on Pennsylvania Avenue doesn't agree with you," added the legendary actor.
The former governor of California added that it’s not his style to attack the president. He claims that "the only way we win the people's hearts and minds is by showing them action that makes their lives better." He also added that "people are sick and tired of the whining and the complaining and the doom and gloom."
