Lavrov praises Trump as pragmatist, slams Europe on Ukraine
Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, described Donald Trump as a "pragmatist" and his associates as "reasonable" in an interview with the Russian Defense Ministry. He also criticized the idea of European forces being present in Ukraine.
Lavrov expressed his views on US President Donald Trump and his administration during a Sunday interview with the media outlet of the Russian Defense Ministry.
He characterized Trump as a "pragmatist," and his associates, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as "absolutely reasonable people."
Lavrov also addressed the issue of European forces in Ukraine, describing such discussions as "brazen." He emphasized that Russia is not consulted on this matter, which he views as unacceptable.
Trump's meeting with Zelensky
On Friday, a meeting took place at the White House between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Initially, the talks proceeded in a positive atmosphere, but they concluded with an argument.
Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance accused Zelensky of lacking gratitude and respect for the USA, which led to the breakdown of discussions on ending the war in Ukraine and resulted in the Ukrainian delegation leaving the White House.
Lavrov praised Trump for his "proper" behavior, emphasizing that Trump's slogan "common sense" represents a shift to a different approach.
