Russia's gaining ground in Ukraine exposes critical vulnerabilities
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warns that after many months on the defensive, the situation on the front is starting to favor Russia. Analysts note that the Russian military is progressively overcoming Ukrainian forces, primarily due to Ukraine's significant vulnerability.
Americans raise alarms about Russia. "Slow but sure victories"

ISW reports that although Ukraine maintains air defense along the front, it's spread thin and lacks consistency. Russia exploits this by deploying guided missiles that allow its forces to secure victories "slowly, but surely."
"Russian strikes have forced Ukraine to make difficult decisions between providing air defense coverage to large population centers in the rear and active areas on the frontline," ISW notes. This highlights Kyiv's dilemma due to the limited number of anti-aircraft systems, which are insufficient to protect all of Ukraine's airspace from Russian missiles.
This issue is compounded as critical infrastructure, often targeted by Russian attacks, also requires defense.
Putin justifies attacks on Ukraine as "Demilitarization"
Meanwhile, Putin recently addressed the Russian aggression against Ukraine, attempting to justify the harsh strikes on energy facilities.
He claimed, with a propagandistic flair, that the attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are part of Russia's "demilitarization" strategy for the country, targeting assets vital to the Ukrainian arms industry.
