Russian woman's claims shift after Ukrainian soldier aid

A Russian woman, living in a Ukrainian-controlled area of the Kursk region, made scandalous claims after receiving humanitarian aid from Ukrainian soldiers. In a conversation with Russian propagandist media, she falsely stated that Ukrainian soldiers were killing residents of her village.

Russian politicians and propagandists have often been caught lying, and it appears that some civilians in Russia may also distort facts, whether by choice or under duress. This was evidenced by Ukrainian soldiers who provided aid to a woman in the Kursk region.

A video surfaced online showing an older Russian woman speaking in contrasting tones in Ukrainian and Russian media. Initially, the woman can be seen expressing gratitude to the Ukrainians. She indicates that the supplies will be a treat for the children and is visibly relaxed and smiling when speaking with the Ukrainian soldiers.

The narrative changes completely in a recording produced by Russian propagandists. In this version, the Russian woman alleges that Ukrainians committed murders. She states that Russians fighting against Ukraine and killing Ukrainian soldiers should be commended.

I don't know why they are doing this, why they murder. Maybe they are fascinated by it. They are not human. They probably have a mission. To kill everyone living in our territory. They will stop when they have murdered everyone, the Russian woman said. She also accused Ukrainians of murdering children.

However, it's uncertain whether she was coerced—under threat of harm—by the propaganda machine to relay such a story.

Previously, when visited by Ukrainian soldiers, the woman proudly mentioned that she had received diapers, cleaning products, and food from the Ukrainians.
