Ruskliemat took over the Ericsson trademark in a landmark move for Russia. According to "Kommersant," Rospatent registered the brand for Ruskliemat on March 12, 2025. This decision came after the Swedish manufacturer withdrew from the Russian market following the onset of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Ericsson trademark was registered for clothing, footwear, and headgear. In October 2024, the court ruled in favor of Ruskliemat, allowing the legal protection of the Ericsson brand to be removed.

According to "Kommersant," the company plans to use the brand on behalf of a foreign partner.

Will Starbucks face a similar fate?

Experts predict that similar situations could affect other foreign brands, such as Starbucks. The three-year period of legal protection for trademarks ends in 2025, potentially leading to further takeovers by Russian companies.

"Kommersant" suggests that such actions could become common in the near future.
