On Sunday, August 4, Kennedy published a short video on his social media. The politician talked about the circumstances that led to the infamous incident.
In 2014, the media described the story of a woman who found the bear carcass in the famous Central Park. This information was an enormous sensation because the park is in the center of New York City. Kennedy admitted that he was the one who left the animal's body.
I had to go to the airport, and the bear was in my car, and I didn't want to leave it there. I had an old bike in the car, so I said, "Let's leave the bear in Central Park," the politician confessed in the video posted on platform X.
Kennedy left the dead bear together with the bike because, at that time, there were nearly daily accidents involving bicycles in New York. He blamed his friends, who were with him at dinner, and convinced him that it would be very funny.
The politician stated that only his friends were drinking alcohol. He himself was sober. However, this did not stop him from carrying out the idea of leaving a dead bear along with the bike in the bushes in the heart of Manhattan.
We did it, and we thought it would be very funny. The next day it was on every TV station. It was on the front pages of the newspaper. On TV, I saw yellow tape and 20 police cars, helicopters flying, and I thought: "Oh my God. What have I done?" Kennedy said in the video material on platform X.
Kennedy did not record the video because he felt guilty and decided to confess. He did it because journalists from the New Yorker called him and discovered the truth. While preparing an article and wanting to do their job thoroughly, they contacted Kennedy to collect his comments for publication.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a member of the most famous American political family. Nevertheless, the politician had difficulty raising money and recently had to slow down his presidential campaign.
The financial problems of his campaign coincided with a series of the politician's gaffes. This fueled speculation that the American politician might withdraw from the presidential race. He himself continues to insist that he will not give up the campaign and will run in the November elections.
