Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
Putin stated that "Russia is ready to cooperate with Kyiv on the memorandum concerning a future peace treaty." He conveyed that the U.S. president "expressed his position on the ceasefire in the war with Ukraine."
Putin thanked Trump for supporting the resumption of direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv. The conversation took place and lasted over two hours, Putin noted. "It was a very informative and sincere discussion, and overall, in my opinion, very helpful in this regard," he stated.
Putin reiterated that the "root causes" of the conflict should be addressed.
He mentioned that further details of the Trump-Putin conversation would be provided by the Russian president's foreign policy advisor, Yuri Ushakov, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The White House had earlier announced that the conversation was scheduled to begin at 11 AM Eastern Time. However, according to Washington, Trump was supposed to call Zelensky only after speaking with Putin. Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported that the conversation was meant to take place before Trump called Putin. It is not ruled out that there will be a second Zelensky-Trump conversation.
