Trump seeks resolution: Pivotal talks with Putin and Zelensky
President of the USA, Donald Trump, is having a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the TASS agency. Ukrainian media report that Trump previously spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The White House had earlier confirmed that the conversation would begin at 11 AM ET. However, according to Washington, Trump was supposed to call Zelensky only after talking with Putin.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian media state that the conversation was expected to happen before Trump called Putin. It is possible that a second Zelensky-Trump conversation will take place.
During Monday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced that the President is scheduled to speak with Vladimir Putin at 10:00 AM Washington time. She added that he intends to call President Zelensky immediately after that conversation concludes. Leavitt emphasized that she would not speculate on the course of these significant discussions but assured that the public would hear about the outcomes directly from the President or from her as soon as they are concluded.
When asked for clarification about the purpose of these talks, she reminded everyone that Trump has very clearly expressed his stance towards both sides in this war and wants the conflict to end.
Asked about Zelensky's meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in Rome on Sunday, Leavitt described it as a productive and fruitful meeting.
According to the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump still does not rule out the possibility of imposing secondary sanctions on Russia.

Speaking about resolving the situation in Ukraine, Leavitt noted that Trump is becoming increasingly disappointed with both sides of the conflict.
According to her, the U.S. President has made it clear to all parties involved that he seeks a ceasefire as soon as possible.
