Putin reinstates Krikalev as space cooperation envoy
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has appointed Sergey Krikalev as his special representative for international cooperation in space. Krikalev, an experienced cosmonaut, returns to the position he previously held for a short time.
Sergey Krikalev, a well-known cosmonaut, was reappointed as Russia's special representative for space cooperation. President Vladimir Putin announced the decision, which was published on the official governmental legal acts website. Krikalev replaces the former head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov.
Krikalev previously held this role from January to February 2024, before being replaced by Borisov. Earlier, from 2016 to 2021, Krikalev was the executive director of Roscosmos for crewed programs.
His career at Roscosmos ended after controversies related to the film The Challenge, which was filmed on the International Space Station.
Sergey Krikalev is a distinguished figure with an impressive record. He has participated in six space missions and has been awarded the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation.
