Putin blames West for Ukraine war, dismisses Trump's claims
Vladimir Putin believes the West forced him into the war with Ukraine. The Russian leader responded to Donald Trump’s comments that "Putin has gone absolutely crazy." Putin stated at a Kremlin meeting, "They carried out a coup. They forced us to do what we are doing now."
Many of the reports conveyed by Russian media and representatives are likely not true. Such reports might be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.
Donald Trump criticized Vladimir Putin's behavior, saying that the Russian leader "has gone absolutely crazy." For the first time, Trump emphatically blamed Putin for the outbreak of the war and the death of civilians during the conflict with Ukraine.
The Russians are attempting to downplay the American leader's statements. Initially, Dmitry Peskov mocked Trump, suggesting he was experiencing "emotional overload." Now, Vladimir Putin has scandalously responded to the words of the US President, accusing Western countries of being responsible for the war.
"We didn't organize the coup in Ukraine. We were constantly told that we need democracy, elections... they carried out a coup and that was it, as if it should be so. Bloody and then they went on to suppress Donbas and so on, to destroy people from helicopters, planes. They forced us to do what we are doing now, and they are trying to make us guilty of it," said the Russian leader.
Putin did not mention the civilians being killed or the continuous missile attacks that regularly occur in Ukrainian cities. He also did not address the ongoing rejection of proposals for a longer ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
