North Korean soldiers face heavy casualties in Kursk, Zelensky warns

"The number of killed and wounded North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region exceeds 3,000," wrote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on his official Telegram account. He also stated that there is a risk that North Korea will send additional soldiers and military equipment to the Russian army in the Kursk region.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a Monday communication on social media that according to the assessment of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, 3,000 North Korean soldiers have already died in the fighting on the Kursk front. Kim Jong Un's regime is sending the soldiers to support the Russian army.

Zelensky also wrote about what he believes is associated with the presence of Kim's envoys on the front line of Putin's war. As he points out, the dispatch of Pyongyang's soldiers carries a risk of destabilization around the Korean Peninsula as well as in neighboring regions and nearby waters.

North Koreans on the front in the Kursk region: Zelensky reveals casualties

The North Korean People's Army began engaging in combat operations alongside the Russian forces at the border with Ukraine in November. Previously, Putin personally met with the North Korean dictator, during which they presumably agreed on the details of the arrangement.

In early November, the leaders of the DPRK and the Russian Federation ratified a treaty on strategic partnership. It stipulates, among other things, that in the event of a threat to the sovereignty of either party, including military aggression, the countries commit to assist each other, including militarily.

According to war experts, more than 10,000 DPRK soldiers have been sent to eastern Russia. Most of them have been deployed to the Kursk region.

"The transfer of modern warfare experience and the spread of military technology from Russia is a global puzzle. For the world, the cost of restoring stability is always much higher than the cost of effective pressure on those who destabilize and destroy the world," added Zelensky.
