Ukraine unveils cutting-edge laser weapon 'Trident'
Colonel Vadym Sucharevskyi reports that Ukraine possesses a modern laser weapon called the Trident, which can shoot down aircraft at altitudes over one mile.
Ukraine introduced an innovative laser weapon called Trident, which can shoot down aircraft at altitudes exceeding 1 mile. Colonel Vadym Sucharevskyi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, provided this information.
"We can state that today Ukraine is, if I’m not mistaken, the fifth country that can say it has a laser weapon. Today, with this laser, we can shoot down aircraft at altitudes over 1 mile," said Sucharevskyi, as reported by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
"It really exists"
The colonel emphasized that the Unmanned Systems Forces are scaling up and strengthening the laser. "It really works; it really exists," he noted. He added that the current use involves mother drones, FPV carriers that can deliver payloads over a distance of more than 43 miles, acting as amplifiers and striking deep-seated enemy targets.
Sucharevskyi pointed out that the Unmanned Systems Forces have existed for less than six months, yet combat and scientific units covering air, land, and water have already been established. Scaling the "Trident" project is one of the most promising aspects of their work.
