Moldova confronts Russian ambassador over drone violations
Due to the violation of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to summon the Russian ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov. Upon entering the office, the diplomat encountered an unexpected sight on the table.
As reported on Thursday by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, Russian drones violated Moldovan airspace. A similar incident was also noted that day by the Romanian Ministry of Defense.
Sandu announced on social media that several Russian drones had breached Moldovan airspace, with two exploding on Moldovan territory. She included a photo of a destroyed drone fragment with her post and emphasized that this is yet another such incident in recent months.
In mid-October of last year, officials in Chisinau reported missile debris found near the border with Ukraine. This was the fifth incident since February 2022, when remnants of missiles and other military equipment were discovered on Moldovan soil. This summary did not include foreign missile overflights in Moldovan airspace.
