Moldovan and Romanian airspace violated by Russian drones
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, reported a violation of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones. The Romanian Ministry of Defense also reported a similar incident.
President Maia Sandu announced that on Thursday morning, Russian drones breached the airspace of her country. She shared this information via social media, accompanied by a photo of a fragment from a destroyed drone.
"The Republic of Moldova has not attacked anyone; we have not entered any foreign territory, nor have we engaged in conflict with any other state. Our constitution upholds our neutrality. The Republic of Moldova has consistently promoted and worked towards peace. However, Russian drones and bombs are falling and exploding in our villages. We must admit, we lack the necessary capabilities to defend ourselves against them," she wrote.
Two drones fell on Moldovan territory. "One landed on a field near Ciumai in Taraclia, and the other exploded on a field near Ceadîr-Lunga. The areas have been isolated, and there is currently no danger to citizens," Sandu emphasized.
This is not the first time Moldova has faced such situations. In October last year, authorities in Chișinău reported remnants of a missile found near the border with Ukraine.
Incident in Romania
Also on Thursday, the Ministry of Defense of Romania reported a possible airspace violation by Russian drones. According to their statement, the incident occurred during a night raid by Russian drones over Ukraine.
Two drones may have entered Romanian territory, and more details will be available after thoroughly examining the site where one of the drones crashed.
