Missile barrage rocks Kyiv and Kharkiv, casualties rise

There was a very restless night in Ukraine due to Russian attacks involving missiles and drones. Numerous explosions occurred in Kyiv and Kharkiv, and the number of casualties is rising, as reported by Ukrainian media. On Wednesday night, there were also attacks on Russian-occupied Crimea, temporarily closing the Crimean Bridge.

What are the effects of the attacks in Kyiv?

Russian attacks on Kyiv caused significant damage across several districts. In the Svyatoshynskyi district, there were fires at six sites, and people may be trapped under the rubble. Fires were also reported in the Shevchenkivskyi district buildings and in garages and cars in the Holosiivskyi district.

"Among the injured persons hospitalized by doctors are three children and a pregnant woman," reported Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko just before 8 PM Eastern Time.

What are the reports from Kharkiv?

Kharkiv was heavily targeted, sustaining seven missile attacks that caused damage in the Novobavarskyi district. Local authorities are working to assess the impact and mitigate the consequences of these attacks.

"Russia is currently attacking Kyiv, Kharkiv, and other cities with missiles and drones. Putin's actions show a sheer desire to kill. The fire must be extinguished. Attacks on civilians must end," wrote Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on Telegram during the attack.

Attack on Crimea

Russian Telegram channels also reported an attack on occupied Crimea, showcasing a map of drones approaching the peninsula.

Just before 6 PM Eastern Time, the Russians temporarily closed traffic on the Crimean Bridge.

"Traffic on the Crimean Bridge is temporarily closed. We ask people on the bridge and in the control area to remain calm and follow the instructions of transport security services," reported the bridge's official channel.

After about an hour, traffic on the crossing connecting Crimea with Russia was restored.
