Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron, the presidents of the USA and France, met at the White House on Monday morning to join the G7 leaders' teleconference. The meeting is being held on the third anniversary of Russian aggression in Ukraine. Macron is the first European leader Trump has received in his second term.

During the teleconference, which also includes leaders from Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, the main topic is the war in Ukraine. Washington opposes using the term "Russian aggression" in the group's official communiqué. Macron and Trump are also expected to hold a joint press conference.

Macron initiated the proposal to deploy European soldiers in Ukraine, which gained Trump's support. The discussions also addressed negotiations to end the conflict and security guarantees for Ukraine. Macron will be officially welcomed to the White House at 12:15 p.m. Eastern Time.

The United Kingdom and France want to persuade Trump

According to "The Times," French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer plan to persuade Donald Trump to abandon talks with Russia.

Diplomatic sources emphasize that Macron and Starmer will try to influence Trump's decisions, which could be crucial for Ukraine's future and regional stability. Their efforts aim to ensure that European commitments to Ukraine are upheld.
