Russian war crimes in Ukraine: Shocking video surfaces online
Although discussions about peace in Ukraine are taking place in global forums, brutal force still dominates the battlefield. The Russians continue to commit war crimes, which they themselves document on social media. Recently, a video surfaced online showing them killing another soldier.
Three years have passed since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The brutal conflict continues along a front stretching 620 miles. The fighting persists, and the brutality remains unchanged. Thousands of soldiers die on both sides every day.
The Ukrainians are well aware that they must not violate international law, as it would likely provoke a negative reaction from Western countries providing aid to Kyiv. The Russians, however, behave differently. Their barbarity continues unabated, as evidenced by another video published on social media, specifically on the Telegram platform. A portion of it also appeared on the X portal.
The war in Ukraine: Footage from the front. Russians ruthless to soldier
The footage shows a soldier from the Ukrainian armed forces lying on the ground, injured. His comrade lies next to him. Standing over them is a Russian soldier extracting information from the wounded man. He wants to know which unit they belong to, where they came from, and how many of them there were. The wounded Ukrainian states he is from the 82nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Sudzha in the Kursk region. He evacuated with his colleagues after a mine explosion. He assured the Russian that there were initially four of them, but now only two were left. The Russian demanded the truth and eventually shot the wounded man, violating the Geneva Convention, which states that prisoners cannot be killed.
Article 2 of the Geneva Convention states that prisoners must be treated with humanity at all times and safeguarded from violence, insults, and public scrutiny. It also strictly prohibits any form of reprisal against them. Prisoners should be evacuated from the battlefield to a special facility as soon as possible. They should expect to be treated with dignity. Unfortunately, the Russians disregard any such laws.
