An emergency landing was necessitated on the Greek island of Rhodes on Monday evening for a Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 flight due to an unidentified odor detected in the galley, reported a spokesperson for the German airline.
The suspicious odor, suggestive of a potential electrical short circuit, led the pilots operating the flight from Frankfurt am Main to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to opt for an emergency descent to Rhodes.

All individuals on board were safely evacuated, and the plane underwent immediate technical inspections.
Passengers were provided accommodation at a local hotel, covered by the airline, and arrangements were made for them to continue their journey to Dubai via a replacement aircraft on Tuesday.
