Media outlets have reported on the alleged resignation of Ramzan Kadyrov. A close Kremlin ally confirmed in an interview with Russian media that Kadyrov approached Vladimir Putin, requesting to be released from his position as the leader of Chechnya.

During a conversation with journalists, Kadyrov addressed the circulating rumors about his possible resignation.

"I've heard those rumors too. They write all sorts of things. On the contrary, I myself am asking to be dismissed from my position. Someone else will have their own initiatives and vision. I hope my request will be supported," Kadyrov said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

Kadyrov also explained that his earlier statements about resignation had been misunderstood. "I can ask, but only the president makes the decision," he emphasized, referring to Putin.

Earlier reports from "Novaya Gazeta Europa" suggested that Kadyrov's health condition had worsened, which might have accelerated the possibility of a change in leadership in Chechnya.
