Jordanian man faces charges after chaos on AirAsia flight
A series of dangerous and shocking events unfolded during the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney. A passenger, a Jordanian citizen, attempted to open the airplane door twice. However, that's not all.
The unpredictable situation occurred on Saturday, April 5, and the actions of a 46-year-old Jordanian citizen caused chaos on board.
He attempted to open the airplane door
The man, traveling with AirAsia, became aggressive and attacked the cabin crew. During a scuffle, he struck one of the crew members. Moreover, despite being unresponsive to crew instructions, he attempted twice to open the rear emergency exit door of the airplane, posing a serious threat to the safety of everyone on board.
The crew and passengers managed to subdue him before a tragedy could occur. After landing in Sydney, the Jordanian citizen was promptly met by Australian Federal Police officers.
Legal Consequences
Following an interrogation of the man and the cabin crew, the 46-year-old was charged, and legal proceedings against him are scheduled for April 9 this year. The hearing will be held in Parramatta's court. He is charged with endangering flight safety and assaulting a steward.
Davina Copelin from the Australian Federal Police emphasized that such behavior could have had tragic consequences. The police are determined not to tolerate aggression on airplanes and are prepared to take decisive action in similar situations. According to Australia.news-pravda.com, the man faces up to 10 years in prison.
