Italy pledges support for Ukraine peace talks after trump meeting

The Italian government positively assessed Pope Leon XIV's readiness to offer the Vatican as a meeting place for representatives of Ukraine and Russia. Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, stated that the Holy See is ready to welcome participants in the talks, which may contribute to reaching an agreement.
"Italy is ready to do its part to facilitate contacts and work for peace," the statement said.
Among those present in talks with Donald Trump were leaders from France, Germany, Finland, the European Commission, and Ukraine.
Talks between Trump and Putin
The U.S. President announced that his conversation with Vladimir Putin went very well, and as a result, Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin negotiations on a ceasefire. He noted that the conditions will be negotiated between the two sides.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, described his conversation with Trump as "frank and substantive." He emphasized that the memorandum between Russia and Ukraine could include issues of ceasefire and principles for resolving the conflict.
