Inside the conflict: Russian volunteers battle Putin's forces
Baranovsky reported that the focal point of clashes between Russian volunteers and forces loyal to Vladimir Putin is the town of Tiotkino in the Kursk region.
He mentioned that the currently unstable situation is spreading to neighbouring towns, affecting not only the Kursk region but also the Belgorod region. According to him, in five towns, conflicts are ongoing between volunteers and the regular army.
The partisan explained that the present actions of Russian volunteers are prompted by the upcoming so-called presidential elections in Russia.
As concerned citizens of Russia, we've chosen to express our political will in this manner, showing our stance towards the elections and the regime of Vladimir Putin. We've taken up voting instruments, and all surprises will unfold tomorrow, as the elections commence," he stated.
On Wednesday, Russian volunteers allied with Ukraine announced assaults on Russian military positions in two major Russian cities near the Ukrainian border — Kursk and Belgorod — urging residents to evacuate these zones.
On March 12, units of the Legion "Freedom of Russia", the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Siberian Battalion entered the Belgorod and Kursk regions of Russia. Following that, the Legion "Freedom of Russia" reported that the town of Tiotkino in the Kursk region has been fully secured by Russian volunteers, with Russian units rapidly retreating from the area.
The Russian Ministry of Defense declared that this assault was "repelled". Meanwhile, the Belgorod region authorities disclosed that one territorial defence soldier was killed, and ten civilians were injured during the attack.
