Homemade pudding: Nostalgia and flavor in every spoonful
This treat is well known from childhood and is enjoyed today by all generations. You can find pouches of powder in various flavors in the store, from classics like cream and vanilla to raspberry, cherry, or salted caramel. However, none can compare to the one prepared at home.

Pudding is one of the simplest desserts. Our moms and grandmas made it, and it appeared on preschoolers' menus. It was also included in many desserts, like plum cake. Although you can easily buy ready-made powder or even pre-made pudding in stores, once you prepare it from home according to an old recipe, you will never return to store-bought.
Recipe for homemade pudding
Life should be made easier, so using semi-prepared products in the kitchen is not bad. Pudding, however, is so simple and quick that you don't need to rush to buy a pouch when you crave dessert.
All children in the 80s enjoyed homemade pudding. When the fire under the stove was put out and Mom poured the pudding into a bowl, everyone grabbed their spoons. If we add homemade raspberry syrup, we have a dessert that steals hearts, not just because of sentiment.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons of potato starch
- 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- Seeds from half a vanilla bean
You can use vanilla sugar instead of a vanilla bean. Add a tablespoon of vanilla sugar along with regular sugar to the egg yolk and flour.
Preparation:
- In a saucepan, heat half the milk on low heat.
- In a bowl, combine the egg yolks, both flours, the remaining milk, and sugar. Mix well to avoid lumps.
- Pour the mixture into the hot milk, stirring constantly.
- Add the vanilla seeds and heat the mixture until the pudding thickens.
Transfer the ready pudding to a bowl. If you want to wait until it cools, cover it with plastic wrap to prevent skin from forming. Serve with homemade raspberry syrup and enjoy the taste like in the old days.
